Welcome to Kangaroo Class!
A warm welcome to our class page. If your child is in Kangaroo class, please familiarise yourself with this page as it will let you know what the class are currently learning.
Towards the bottom of the page, you will find the class newsletter, subject knowledge organisers and home learning: all of these areas will be updated on a regular basis to reflect the current learning in Kangaroo Class.
If you have any questions or queries regarding your child's learning, please contact a member of the school reception staff.
Mr Hague
At the start of the academic year, each class are asked to choose 5 rules that their class should adhere to throughout the school year. In September, the children in Kangaroo Class chose the following for their class code:
- Respect and listen to adults
- Use kind words and actions
- Respect equipment
- Complete my work to the best of my ability
- Put my hand up when I want to speak
Our class code also underpins, and links very closely, to our Aspirational Beehive which can be seen throughout school and in our classroom: the core values are the skills and attributes that are rewarded for demonstrating within the school environment.
Home learning will be provided at the start of each half term. This will be in the form of a menu that includes activities which are based on the learning that has taken place in class. Pupils will have approximately 5 weeks to complete at least one of the given activities - the more they can complete, the better as home learning will be then shared in class and during our Fabulous Finish event.
Spellings will be given weekly, with pupils tested every Friday.
Regular reading is also essential for children to further extend their vocabulary and to experience a range of writing styles and genres. In Kangaroo Class, children can access the school library and they are encouraged to borrow books which appeal to their interests.
Our PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday. Please make sure that on these days, children have correct PE kit (white t-shirt, black shorts and trainers). In winter months, we encourage children to bring a jacket or a jumper to wear as well. Please ensure your child's clothing is labels as it remains their responsibility look after their clothing and equipment.
At the end of a unit of work, parents will be invited into school to celebrate what the children have learnt. The class will have the opportunity to talk you through what they have produced as well as celebrate their successes. Look out for dates on our class newsletters.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
