The policy provides clarity in teaching and learning strategies for the four number operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. It is designed to support, match and follow the CPA approach to mathematics: Concrete - Pictorial - Abstract.
Application of the policy allows learners to develop and practise a range of differing strategies, thus empowering them to become fluent and efficient mathematicians.
