Meerkat Class - Year FourA warm welcome to our class page! |
Class Teacher: Mr Dixon
Teaching Assistant: Miss Elliss
Home learning will be provided at the beginning of each half term. This will be in the form of a learning menu that includes activities which are based on different subject areas of the national curriculum and the learning that has taken place in class. Pupils will have approximately 6 weeks to complete at least one of the given activities - the more they can complete, the better as home learning will then be shared in class and during our Fabulous Finish event.
Spellings will be given weekly, with pupils tested every Friday. Below, you can find a document to support your child's spelling practice at home. Please try to encourage regular spelling practice at home as we work through the statutory spellings from the National Curriculum for Lower Key Stage 2:

The link below will take you directly to the Year 4 page of the free website (Spelling Frame) where your child can practice the Year 4 spelling rules online on a computer, phone or tablet.

Regular reading is also essential for children to further extend their vocabulary and to experience a wide range of writing styles and genres. In Meerkat Class, children can access the school library and are encouraged to borrow books which appeal to their interests. We have also created an in-class self service library for our children to sign out and borrow books to read for pleasure.
Multiplication Check & TT Rockstars
Year 4 pupils will take part in the Multiplication Check later in the year. In preparation for this, daily multiplication work will take place to ensure pupils are solid in their multiplication knowledge.
Our PE days are Tuesday and Thursday.
Please make sure that on these days, children have correct PE kit (white t-shirt, black shorts and trainers). In winter months, we encourage children to bring a jacket/jumper and long trousers to wear as well. Please ensure your child's clothing is labelled as it remains their responsibility to look after their clothing and equipment.
